Alteration 06: Wing Tanks

This alteration will install fuel tanks in the wings and modify the fuel system for this alteration 

Additional information will be shown in the appropriate section
Step 01: Lay out and cut floor out as shown, also remove the top flange of the left floor rib.

Step 05: I will replace this flange in the outward direction.

Step 02: Make the tank support tray as shown.
Step 03: Make two end caps and cleco then rivet as shown.

Step 04: Temporally install the tank support tray and make the angle to replace the flange removed in Step 01:

Step 05: Install the nut plates in the new angle, scuff, prime and rivet the angle to the rib and floor as shown.


Note: this will also make adjusting the rudder cables a little easier.

Step 06: Make the new tank 1/2" smaller then the available space to allow for padding and movement.

Step 07: Make a few fuel tank fittings.

Step 08: Tap then final turn the parts

Step 09: Test fit all the new parts.

Step 10: Disassemble tank scuff and clean all parts.
Ues tank sealent and reassemble all parts as shown.

Step 11: Finish Header tank and install rubber on top to isolate form floor

Step 12: Cutout the baggage floor as shown, add nutplates. clean, prime and add rubber to the Header Tank Support Tray as shown.
Step 13: Install header tank and temporally test fit all fuel lines

Note: See 06.02 Fuel Pumps for the installation of Fuel Pumps
Step 14: Temporally install the Header tank and Fuel Pump covers.
