First engine start. first engine run the RPM was not working.
reprogrammed Garmin G3X to the jabiru engine. Second run RPM now worked and the static run was a little to high about 3100 RPM The idle was also to high about 1150 rpm.
|
|||||||
11/06/18 |
Engine start, after warm-up check to confirm static RPM about
3120
|
|||||||
04/17/18 | Change Prop pitch to 22.5°
04/18/19 |
Start Engine to set the idle about 950 Check static RPM now at
about 2650 + -
|
|||||||
09/25/20 |
Start Engine and let run for about 10 minutes. Cool Down Then
run again about 8 minutes. All Ok.
|
|||||||
06/06/21 | Install new oil pump from Jabiru. Jr to Nick at Arion Aircraft to confirm install instructions. Remove one spark plug from each cylinder and add a few drops of engine oil and crank engine with starter for about 20 seconds. oil pressure about 18 psi. Reinstall spark plugs.
01/13/22 |
Taxi test Joe Rhodes First engine start at the airport with wings on and wing tanks with 5 gallons of fuel in each tank. I also did a slow taxi test to see how the aircraft turns and how the brakes worked. All went well.
|
|||||||
04/09/22 |
Taxi tests Pilot Lynn Postel Start engine taxi test down to the hangers and back two times at about 32 MPH brakes worked fine and it had good rudder authority Starter bendix sticking a little.
|
|||||||
04/14/22 |
Start engine and check oil pressure with a oil pressure
gauge 42 to 45 psi. Total run time about 12 Minutes. Starter bendix sticking a little.
|
|||||||
05/05/22 | Remove starter and remove bendix assembly, clean and lubricate then reinstall.
05/06/22 |
Start Engine and warm up. The Starter
bendix worked fine. Engine run at full throttle for static RPM test
Max RPM 2575. Cylinder temp about 300 + -
|
|||||||
05/11/22 |
Engine start for DAR inspection all went well.
Airworthiness Certificate Issued.
|
|||||||
06/09/22 |
First flight pilot Lynn Postel The aircraft handled well and needed a little right rudder to center the ball.

Third flight: Pilot LynnPostel The weather was not good for test flights we had to dodge clouds and ended before test card three was complete.

06/23/22 |
Pilot Lynn Postel CHT on cylinder 6 running 0ver 370° in clime and oil temp over 230 in clime
|
|||||||
06/25/22 |
Pilot Lynn Postel On this flight Lynn tried to lower the clime rate to keep the temp down and this is still a problem to keep temps in the green. Joe called Nick at Jabiru to get info to help with this problem and he suggested a larger oil cooler and how to trim the air ducts to get more air to the back cylinders.
|
|||||||
06/25/22 | Trim 3/16" from the two fiberglass deflectors in the left cylender head cooling duct ( to balance CHT temps )
06/27/22 |
Install new earthX Battery Model ETX 900 E22 Install the larger oil coller and new brackets. |
|||||||
07/06/22 | Trim 1/8" from the two fiberglass deflectors in the right cylender head cooling duct ( to balance CHT temps )
07/08/22 | Test fit new larger oil cooler and brackets ( over two times the transfer area ) The brackets need to be modified to locate the oil cooler forward 7/8". Back to the shop.
07/11/22 |
Reinstall oil cooler with new brackets, the cowel needs a little
fiberglass work. I took the cowel to the shop and opened the air intake to about 2-7/8" vertically. |
|||||||
07/13/22 | Test fit the cowel to the new oil cooler
07/11/22 |
Test flight pilot Lynn Postel Onlu18 mile flight today due to weather.
|
|||||||
07/16/22 |
Test flight pilot Lynn Postel The changes helped the CHT are now ok, the long taxi time to the runway don't help. Take off clime of 400 to 500 fpm helps this problem. 125 miles today

Calibrrate the G3X for proper altitude reading ( help from Tom
Longo ) Tested for air leaks and found that the Pitot had a internal leak. Orderd a new GAP 26 ( under warranty ). |
|||||||
07/28/22 | Install new GAP 26 Searial # 34F70D616

Test Flight Pilot Lynn Postel Test flight 72 miles checking airspeeds and power settings at 2500 Lynn thought he heard a clicking noise from the landing gear.
|
|||||||
08/15/22 |
I jacked up the wheels, one at a time to rotate and check for a
clicking noise . The main landing gear feels fine and nose wheel bearing
on the right side in clicking. Remove nose wheel and called Maco from the airport and orderd a new bearing. Took the wheel to my shop and pressed out the bearing. |
|||||||
08/17/22 |
Install new Maco bearing on nose wheel at shop. Install wheel back on aircraft on 08/18/22. |

“I certify that the prescribed flight test hours have been
completed and the aircraft is controllable throughout its normal range
of speeds and throughout all maneuvers to be executed, has no hazardous
characteristics or design features, and is safe for operation. The
following aircraft operating data has been demonstrated during the
flight testing: speeds Vso
- 42 K
, Vx
- 60 K
, and Vy – 75 K , and the weight
- 1310
lbs, and CG location - 80.41
at which they were obtained.”
